Chapter 2: Pair Speaking — Conversations That Flow
Building natural 1-on-1 conversational confidence through 5 interactive pair drills
🔥 1. The Hot Seat Interview
Student A is a famous explorer/inventor; Student B is a journalist asking 5 W-H questions (Who, What, Where, When, Why, How).
Target: Spontaneous speaking without scripts.
⚖️ 2. Agree or Disagree?
Teacher poses a statement (e.g., "Homework should be banned"). Student A agrees with 1 reason; Student B must disagree with 1 reason using because, however, although.
Target: Connectors & expressing opinions.
🎨 3. Describe and Draw
Back-to-back sitting. Student A describes a secret cartoon drawing using spatial words (above, below, next to); Student B draws it blind.
Target: Spatial prepositions & precision.
🚫 4. The No-Yes Challenge
Rapid-fire questions. Responding student is forbidden from saying Yes, No, Yeah, Nope. Must use Absolutely, Of course, Never, Correct!
Target: Vocabulary range & agility.
📖 5. Finish My Story
Students alternate telling 1 sentence each to build a collaborative 10-sentence story on the spot.
Target: Narrative coherence & listening.
